9/20 Junkanoo Festival Celebrate St. Augustine’s Bahamian ties at this colorful, interactive event that features traditional Bahamian Junkanoo performers. The fun begins at the Plaza de la Constitucion with a costumed dancing parade that rushes up St. George Street to the Special Events Field, located behind the St. Augustine Visitors Information Center on Castillo Drive. All afternoon there will be lots of Bahamian food, music costume makers, parade rushers, goat skin drummers, and government dignitaries coming from the Island of Abaco to share their love for traditional Junkanoo. Played over 54 holes at the St. Johns Golf Club, the tournament’s competitors will be selected based on their golfing resumes. Points awarded to the winner, runner up and Top 5 finishers will count toward the Golfweek/Titleist Men’s Amateur Rankings. 12/7 40th Annual Christmas Tour of Homes Enjoy “Christmas Traditions,” the St. Augustine Garden Club’s annual tour that will showcase homes located around Maria Sanchez Lake, the Matanzas Bay and St. George Street in St. Augustine’s South Historic District. These beautiful historic homes which will be open for the tour represent styles popular in the city and were constructed in 1890, 1905, 1920’s and more recent years. All decorations and floral arrangements throughout the tour will be composed of natural materials designed and hand crafted by members of The Garden Club of St. Augustine.
